Description & • They will have rotation posting in haemodialysis unit, peritoneal dialysis unit, Nephrology ward and
Career Prospects kidney transplantation unit. They will get basic idea to manage patients undergoing haemodialysis,
peritoneal dialysis and prepare patients for kidney transplantation.
• Many dialysis centres in Karnataka and in India are poorly managed because of lack of trained duty
doctors which leads to increase in morbidity and mortality in dialysis patients. Many ESRD patients
are not getting kidney transplantation because of lack of knowledge about it. Even government
resources and hospital resources are wasted because of lack of dialysis duty doctors. Many posts
of DM nephrologist are settling in metro cities and District places, unable to provide better care to
ESRD patients who are living in peripheries.
• They can be appointed as dialysis duty doctors in Government or Private Dialysis Centres, they can
be part of Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program. They can work under DM Nephrologist.

Program Post Graduate Diploma in Cellular and Molecular Diagnostics (BiSEP)

Duration 1 year (6 months academics + 6 months industry training)
Eligibility Criteria • Pass in Masters degree with minimum of 50% in Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry /
Bioinformatics or any other Life Science related courses OR Minimum of 50% in B.E / B.Tech. –
Biotechnology or Bioinformatics, Bachelor of Pharmacy / Agriculture and Veterinary or 4 years
degree courses in any branch of Life Sciences.
• The minimum marks for students belonging to SC / ST categories shall be 40% in the qualifying
degree examination.
Admission • Register for Karnataka Biotechnology Aptitude Test (KBAT) on

Description & Biotechnology Skill Enhancement Program – BISEP an initiative of the Department of Biotechnology,
Career Prospects Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, Department of IT, BT and S & T, Government
of Karnataka. The PG Diploma in Cellular and Molecular Diagnostics is offered by the SDM College of
Medical Sciences & Hospital, Dharwad.

Program Fees Rs.50,000/- per student excluding examination fees (if any). The resident students of Karnataka
joining the course under BiSEP to pay Rs.25,000/- only as course fee. Balance Rs.25,000/- will be
paid to host institutes by K-Tech on submission of prescribed set of documents.
