Introduction:

SDM RIBS is a constituent unit of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University, a young
institute established in the year 2019. The idea of the institute was first conceptualised by
establishing the SDM Life Science Research Center (SDMLSRC) in 2016 and further in 2018
this center was recognised and transformed as SDM Research Institute for Biomedical
Sciences. SDM RIBS comprises specialized research facilities such as pharmaceutical
grade cleanroom for validation and production of clinical grade cells and cell-based
products for therapeutic applications and equipped with state-of-the-art basic research
laboratory to unravel the mysteries of various unmet medical needs particularly, non-
communicable diseases through innovative thinking, creative problem solving and cutting-
edge technologies. The institute intends to conduct research in the advanced and emerging
areas of modern science with innovation and initiative for indigenous technology & product
development for betterment of the society aligning with our hon’ble prime minister’s “MAKE
IN INDIA” initiative.

Eligibility • Candidates must have a bachelor degree of minimum 3 years duration in Life Sciences and 4
Criteria years in BE / B.Tech. majoring in Biotechnology and Pharmacy with not less than 50% marks in
aggregate.
• Admission / selection of eligible candidates for M.Sc. (Biomedical Science) program shall be
based on the eligibility, marks secured in the qualifying Test and personal interview.

Description & • M.Sc. program is of 2 academic years with semester pattern having a total of 4 Semesters.
Career • The syllabus of M.Sc. (Biomedical Science) program has been prepared as per the Choice Based
Prospects Credit System (CBCS) pattern. The syllabus has been prepared taking in to consideration of the
UGC guidelines, syllabus of SLET / NET examination and other universities as well as the specific
inputs of the Expert Committee Members.
• The goal of these programmes is to gain advanced knowledge and skills in the field of
Biomedical Sciences, which will provide a solid foundation for research and development of
innovative ideas, as well as the translation of inventions to clinical medicine for the betterment
of human health. Advanced biomedical research is a constantly changing, dynamic, and complex
