Introduction:

SDM CPT was founded in 1996 in a modest way to impart high-quality physiotherapy education,
and it has maintained a high standard of education ever since. The college is located in
Dharwad, in a serene and picturesque setting along the main drive between Dharwad and
Hubballi, near Sattur. The expertise of a highly qualified and experienced faculty underpins the
research and education knowledge. The College offers postgraduate BPT and MPT
programmes in seven specialties. The college is connected to the 1250-bed SDM Hospital,
which provides students with extensive clinical experience in a variety of specialties.

The college is a constituent unit of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University and is
recognised by the Govt. of Karnataka. The college has been extending professional services
during the various tennis and Ranji tournaments held in Hubballi and Dharwad.

Physiotherapy is a very broad field. Physiotherapy services are widely used in healthcare
organizations, community, sports and work place settings, schools and private practices.
Physiotherapists work with patients and their families / caters to address problems
experienced by them as a result of illness, injury and disability. Physiotherapists can practice
autonomously whenever they are the first point of contact for clients / patients or as part of
the healthcare team.

The field has enormous carrier opportunities in both Government and Private sectors in India
and abroad. Students can pursue Master’s degree post completion of the Bachelor degree to
obtain specialisations in their field of interest. Candidates may also pursue a Ph.D. following
their Master’s degree.

A number of our alumni have been placed well across the globe, while many have explored the
field of sports physiotherapy and are members of various sports organisations at State and
National levels.

▪ Dr. Prashant Mukkannavar, Professor has been appointed as Adjunct Faculty in MGM School of
Physiotherapy, MGM University in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
▪ Dr. Sanjay Parmar, Professor has been appointed as Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Physical
Therapy, University of Manitoba Canada.
