Qualification and Admission Process:
Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University (SDM University) admits students from India and
abroad to its Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), Fellowship, Ph.D., and Certificate programs in
Medical, Dental, Physiotherapy and Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and
Biomedical Sciences. Admissions are subject to the eligibility requirements prescribed by the
University and the relevant regulatory authorities.
1. Introduction:
Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University (SDM University) grants admission to candidates
who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. All admissions are merit-based, as specified in the
eligibility and admission requirements of the respective programs.
Seats under the Foreign/NRI category are exclusively available to:
• Foreign nationals
• Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)
• Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)
• Non-Resident Indians (NRI)
• Eligible NRI-sponsored candidates
Foreign / NRI category seats are NOT equivalent to management / Private / reserved seats.
1.1 Foreign / NRI Category:
As per Government of Government / Karnataka Examination Authority 15% of total intake of Medical
& Dental programs is allocated for Foreign / NRI category. This includes foreign citizens, Person of
Indian Origin (PIO) Card Holders, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), Non- Resident Indian (NRI) and NRI-
sponsored candidates (sponsored by NRI parents OR brother / sister of parents* OR brother / sister
of the candidate* OR grandparents of the candidate* OR spouse of the candidate*). The sponsorer
must be a foreign national or hold NRI status.
All admissions to UG & PG programs (other than those listed in the note above) under Foreign / NRI
category, will be on a first-cum-first-serve merit basis, subject to the candidates performance in the
10+2 (for UG programs) / Bachelor Degree (for PG programs) of India or equivalent examination in
addition to meeting the various eligibility requirements of respective programs as stipulated by the
regulatory bodies.
Candidates who have confirmed their admission under the Foreign / NRI / NRI Sponsored category,
by paying the full first year program fee CANNOT take an admission under the General category.
2. Qualifications:
Candidates seeking admissions to Under Graduate (UG) / Post Graduate (PG) / Super Specialty (SS)
should have obtained their qualifications from a recognized Board / University. For PG programs, the
candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration from a recognized University
as per program requirement.
