SDM University Celebrates National Science Day

National Science Day was celebrated in SDM University on 28th February, 2026 in grand manner. As part of the Celebrations Poster, Model & Ideathon Competitions were conducted for the Faculty, Staff and the Students of the SDM University and SDM Engineering College. There were 101 Posters & 36 Models were prepared and presented this year. Prof. (Dr.) Prantar Chakrabarti, Chief Medical Director, Sugah Healthcorp, Chennai was the Chief Guest. Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Prantar Chakrabarti addressed the Faculty, Staff & Students. 

Shri V. Jeevandhar Kumar, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Chidendra M. Shettar, Registrar, Dr. Ajantha G S, Deputy Registrar, Shri V G Prabhu, Finance Officer, Dr. K. Satyamoorthy, Director Research, Dr. Ramesh Chakrasali, Principal SDM Engineering College, Heads of the Institutions and other Dignitaries were present during the inauguration. Chief Guest inaugurated the Science Day Poster & Model Exhibition.

Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Prantar Chakrabarti, Pro Vice Chancellor Shri V. Jeevandhar Kumar, Registrar Dr. Chidendra M. Shettar and Director Research Dr. K. Satyamoorthy distributed the Cash Awards and Certificates for the winners. During the function the Judges and the Institution Coordinators were recognized.

The Top Three Teams who bagged the First Prizes are:

• Dr. Pavitra Jain & Team received 1st prize in Poster Category
• Ms. Shrushti S.U & Team bagged 1st prize in Model Category
• Mr. Basavaraj Kanavi & Team won 1st prize in Non-Teaching Category
  

As part of the Science Day celebrations 15 Meritorious B.Sc. Students from JSS Science College were given 1 week Science Training from 23 to 28 February. Participation certificates were distributed during the function.

Dr. K. Satyamoorthy welcomed the Guests. Dr. T G Vasudevan introduced the Chief Guest. Dr. Ramyashree invoked the almighty blessings. Mr. Babanna Shettigar, Chief PRO & Dr. Wasim Ahmed presented the awardees. Dr. Satyabodh Guttal proposed the Vote of Thanks. Dr. Renukardhya K. Math compered the Program.
